Does Anyone Care that Ashton Kutcher Beat CNN, or if CNN Tried to Buy the Win?

In the battle between CNN and actor Ashton Kutcher for Twitter followers, CNN tried to get around a rule that forbids buying or selling of free user accounts.  Now there are claims Ashton Kutcher cheated.

CNN  spent Wednesday and Thursday explaining it did not purchase the “CNNBRK” account from another twitter-er.   CNN has explained it hired the Twitter account owner as a social media consultant, and in the deal the Twitter account so badly wanted was  transferred to CNN , according to the Tech Crunch blog.

Well EXCUSEEEEEEEEEE us for not understanding!  You didnt buy it, which is illegal in Twitters rules.  (Laugh, Twitter rules…) You hired him, and to give him a lucrative job,  you added that he transfer ownership to you.  Our mistake…

Now this has been all over the internet airwaves, gossip rags, Tweets, and blogs.  In my opinion it has taken up to much time.  The only comment I have made when asked, was at least Ashton Kutcher is giving something to charity if he wins.   Good for you!

It was a great publicity stunt for both parties, hell, they even got Oprah and Larry King involved!

I do have to say, the more I read, research and follow Ashton Kutcher, the more I think he is truly in love with new technology… and possibly Twitter.  Who am I to judge, I am too.  If his interest is genuine, and his desire to bring awareness to every mom, pop, gardner and housewife… then so be it!  It needed to be done!  Maybe not in this way, or this fast… but as I have said on this website before and will continue to say over and over,  times are changing.
