Love a Blog Post? How Do You Share it?

Posted by Kimberly Veautour on April 7, 2009 in Weblog |

One of the best things about  social media is the amount of material written and produced every single day.  Everyone, avid blog reader or average Joe come across blog postings every time they search a topic on the internet.  Have you every seen one that makes you say to yourself, ” Self, this has some great points, and I want Jane Doe to know about it!”.  Now, come on, there is no shame it in… we all have.  So what is the best way to share these posts?

Just as there are a million ways to search for information on the web, there is no lack of ways to share, promote, and post Blogs.  Using  social networks, instant messenger, and mobile phones applications are some of the many ways, but here are my  favorite ways to share a great blog post:

1. Using Twitter to Tweet:  If you have not found the Twitter craze, try it and see.  I would bet, for the first day or so, you will think to youself… this is the dumbest thing I have every done.  For the next, I dont know, 2 years or so… you will think this is the dumbest thing I have ever done.. but you will be posting it to Twitter because you are addicted.

2. Myspace: Updating your myspace blog and linking to your personal blog not only gets the word out there but also creates inbound links… good SEO tool!

3. Facebook:  Updating your Facebook is VERY easy.  By simply going to your notes section you can set up Facebook to automatically update your notes whenever a blog is posted on your external blog site via RSS Feed.  Way Easy!

4. Posting to LinkedIn: LinkedIn, the number one Professional Networking Tool in my opinion, imports blog postings the same way Facebook does.  Once you have it set up once, you never have to touch it again.

5. Stumble Upon:  Now if you havent seen this, you need to check it out.  When you visit a website you hit a thumbs up or a thumbs down located on your browser.  It puts the page out there on the information super highway, as your “stumble upon”, as well as tracks what you like and dont like to better make suggestions.

6. Reddit:  Read and submit articles that stand out in your mind.

7. Delicious: Post and catagorize postings for others to easily find.

8. Ping.fm: Update all of these social sites and more in one place.   Ping.fm is my number one favorite social network tool.  Ping.fm links to all of your social networks and sends your updates to any website you want.   You can even update from your instant messenger!

I could have given you 100 sites and not covered them all.  The main point?  If you really like a posting you see, scream it from the roof tops.  It is truly why we write.  We take the knowledge we have and try to give it back to you… even just a little bit.
